Ricochet Hits #1 on Bluegrass Today Radio Chart

Ricochet, released in late 2017, is the first single from the newly released album by the same title from Kristy Cox, and has just hit the top spot on the Bluegrass Today’s Top 20 Songs and has stayed there for two weeks. Making this 6 weeks total in the Top 3.

New Album ‘Ricochet’ OUT NOW!!

Mountain Fever Records and Country Rocks Records Australia is pleased to announce the release of a new album from international artist Kristy Cox. Ricochet is available to radio programmers and consumers today!

For her new project on Mountain Fever and Country Rocks, Cox has once again teamed up with producer and songwriter Jerry Salley. Salley’s reputation as a writer among the elite artists in bluegrass and acoustic country music stands on its own without question, but partnered with Cox, the two have proven to be quite the formidable pair in writing and recording great music. Ricochet is a strong example: seven of the ten tracks were co-written by one or both of them. The title track was released in late 2017 as the album’s first single and has already landed on the USA Bluegrass Today’s Top 10 Songs at number 3 and in Australia made number one on the Australian Country Radio Chart. The opening track, “South To North Carolina”(Cox/Salley/Michael Rogers) will resonate well with die-hard bluegrass fans and proves that Australian-born Cox is equally at home in the U.S., both musically and geographically. If radio programmers are looking for the next great duet for their playlists, they need look no further than”A Bed This Cold” sung by Cox and Brandon Rickman of the Lonesome River Band, who also penned the song with Salley. Additional guest vocalists include Salley, Rogers, Maggie Salley, Donna Ulisse, and Josh Swift. Adding to this already solid recording is an all-star cast of musicians; Jason Roller (fiddle/guitar), Justin Moses (Dobro/mandolin), Aaron McDarris (banjo), and Mike Bub (bass).Ricochet will likely find a rightful spot among listener’s favourites, thereby giving Kristy Cox some well-deserved longevity in bluegrass music.

Daddy Doesn’t Pray Anymore‘ – Single Release OUT NOW

Of all of the songs on Kristy’s brand new album ‘Part of Me,’ if one is looking for a song of significance, a stark rendition of Chris Stapleton’s modern standard “Daddy Doesn’t Pray Anymore” should do it. With previous recordings by the likes of James King and Volumne Five as well as Stapleton on his award winning Traveller album, most folks would have heard this number. However Kristy (along with Jerry Salley and Stephen Mougin) pulls this one close lending credibility to their performance, with Kristy’s distinct vocals making this song 100% her own. This will mark Kristy’s third single from the album in Australia, following the release of Top 5 hits “You Walked In” and “Another Weary Mile.”

Kristy has had a huge 2016 that has seen her tour extensively throughout Europe, USA and Australia. Also receiving shortlist nominations in the International Bluegrass Music Awards in the USA for Emerging Artist and Female Vocalist of the Year along side the likes of Alison Krauss and Rhonda Vincent. “I’m still not sure that this is all real, since I was a child I have wanted to have one of these (Golden Guitar) on my bedside table, but to be acknowledged with the first ever Bluegrass Golden Guitar and to be presented it by my long time friend and producer Jerry Salley just made it that bit more special…. we have made history! I can’t thank the industry here at home enough for their ongoing support, and my label Pisgah Ridge for believing in me and making this album with us” – Kristy Cox
